Answers:

1. Why do I need an attic fan?

Hot air rises in your house, pooling in the attic then dispersing back into the rest of the house..  Your air conditioner works overtime trying to get rid of it and your energy bill just keeps rising.  With an attic fan, the hot air is literally blown away, meaning less work for your air conditioner and less money to the power company.

2. Does this fan qualify for the Federal residential energy credit?

Yes, the SunRise Solar attic fans qualify for the 30% Federal credit.  And since the SunRise Solar attic fan will never add to your electric bill--instead driving down the cost of cooling your house--the unit will quickly pay for itself.

3. My house is fairly old.  What kind of wiring does the SunRise attic fan take?

The SunRise solar powered attic fan requires no wiring or hook up to your utilities.  It comes fully assembled and operates completely on solar power.

4. Do I have to switch the fan on or off?

No, if you live in a dry climate you can add an optional  thermostat to the unit to automatically turn the fan on at 80° and off again at 65°.

5. I have a flat roof.  How will this work for me?

SunRise Solar has 3 different models.  Our Curb Base unit is specially designed for flat roofs and can also be used on tile or shake roofs.  We also have a Flat Based unit for roofs with a normal pitch and a Gable mounted unit that will work with any existing roof vent.

6. I'm a little worried about squirrels or birds getting caught in the fan.  Have you had that happen?

The SunRise Solar fan has a stainless steel screen to keep animals out while maximizing the flow of air.

7. Do you have any warranties or guarantees?

We sure do.  The Sunrise Solar attic fan has a five year guarantee on its motor with a 10 year guarantee on the solar panel and other parts.

8. How do I know what size fan to buy?

All you have to know is how big your attic is.  The SunRise 850 is effective for attics up to 1200 square feet.  The 1050 model is efficient in attics from 1200 to 1600 square feet.  And we recommend the SunRise 1250 for attics from 1600 to 2000 square feet in size.

9. My roof has a lot of shade.  Can I still use this fan?

Our ShadeBuster RP has a remote solar panel you can use anywhere on the roof that you can find sun. On a north facing roof slope, the solar panel can be placed over the ridge on the south side, allowing the solar panel to catch the most direct sun.
